Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actor, is well-known for her work in film and television since the late 1980s. The actress has won numerous honors, like the Golden Globe Award and sixteen NAACP Image Awards. Her work has been recognized for television and in film from the mid-80s onwards, she has received various accolades like two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was born to her aunt in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was born and grew up within New York New York. Bassett moved with her older sister St. Petersburg Florida at five years old to be near their mother, who was separated from their dad. Bassett watched the James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play when she was in high school, and realised that she was an actor and would like to be doing.
